Meet The Maker
Middle Stitch Studio was started by Cassie in early 2025.
What began as a personal sewing practice slowly grew into something more, more than just a hobby, but a reconnection and ignition of mindfulness practice.
Slowing down, tuning in, coming back home.
Inspired by the hands and hearts of the strong women who shaped me. I was raised around the whirr of sewing machines.
I was lucky, living in a blended family, to have two mum’s, and their creativity was quiet but powerful, stitched into the background of my childhood. My mum made skirts and wedding dresses; my stepmum made me a prom dress I’ve cherished ever since.
After my mum passed away, it was my mother-in-law who unknowingly rethreaded that connection, reintroducing me back to sewing just when it was needed most.
What started as a simple gesture felt like something much deeper, an invisible thread stitching the past and present together. Sewing had found its way back to me; a quiet final gift from my mum.
From that point on, I threw myself into learning everything I could. I jumped from children’s clothes, to quilting, to historically accurate corsetry, before developing a love for patternmaking and finding an unexpected kind of healing.
Along the way, I kindled another interest too. A connection to mindfulness, meditation, and the gentle teachings of the Dharma.
Sewing folded into this effortlessly. Both offered a sense of presence, slowing down, and a quiet return to balance.
Middle Stitch Studio was born from that meeting point, named not just for the act of sewing but for the Middle Way, a mindful path of balance, intention, and presence.
Coming into the patternmaking world as someone new, I was knew I had to bring something meaningful.
Not just another pattern, but something with purpose, an experience. The Seed Set was my answer to that.
I wanted something accessible to all skill levels, confidence boosting, and satisfying to sew. A pattern that could grow alongside its maker, building both skills and a wardrobe.
In July 2025, after nearly five months of drafting, testing, and refining, I released The Seed Set, my debut pattern and the foundation of Middle Stitch Studio.
My offering back to the women who have come before me, Middle Stitch Studio is grounded in intentional making, gentle creativity, and honouring the quiet power of women who create, past and present.
Some patterns teach skills. Others teach stillness.
Welcome to Middle Stitch Studio.
Meet the Team 🐾
Middle Stitch is a small but mighty operation, run from our home and fuelled by tea, creativity, and the occasional cat nap (emphasis on the cat)
Alongside Cassie, we have two very important furry colleagues keeping morale high and standards purr-fect.

A master of the art of relaxation, and the best Zen teacher, Archie is responsible for ensuring work-life balance is strictly maintained at Middle Stitch HQ. His preferred management style is leading by example, usually from a sunbeam.
Key skills:
- 9+ years of professional napping experience
- Flawless slow blink technique
- Uncanny ability to appear just as sewing starts

Annie
Box Fort Engineer
A true visionary in the field of cardboard architecture, Annie oversees the arrival of every delivery, promptly assessing each box for structural integrity, stackability, and the potential for luxury naps.
Key skills:
- Expert-level box jumping and lid removal
- Thorough (some might say excessive) paper shredding
- Ability to disappear into a box within 0.3 seconds of it hitting the floor
- Posing
Note on the Cats
While they are very much part of the team, all fabrics are stored in a dedicated cat-free space to keep them pristine. However, as we work in a cat-friendly home, those with severe allergies may wish to take this into account.
